Hanging Clothes

Outdoor Umbrella Dryer.
About a year ago when we bought our own home, we became friends with some pretty frugal people (we will call them friend 'S').  'S' had a clothes line that is like an umbrella.  You push a button and it opens, or push the button and it closes.  'S' also cemented in a PVC pipe to put the clothes line in.  The clothesline comes with a plastic container to hold the clothesline in place in the ground.  However, we did what 'S' did and used the PVC pipe.  It's worked GREAT so far!
This is how it looks folded up.
I leave my clothes pins on
the line all the time.

And, being the frugal person that I am I had to get one.  Not only does it fold up but you can take it out of the PVC piping in the ground and put it in your garage/shed to save room in your yard, or even to prevent an eye-sore.
The PVC Pipe is where the
clothesline goes.

So far, since May I think I have used my dryer for a total of 30 minutes. And, the only reason that I used it for the 30 minutes is because I was trying to soften the towels up a little bit. However, I decided that a little 'natural starch' was good for the towels. :)  According to Elizabeth Rogers the author of Shift Your Habit: Easy Ways to Save Money, Simplify Your Life, and Save the Planet stated in the book, that I should save approximately $45/year if you line dry 2 loads of laundry per week.  However, I feel we are saving so much more than the $45 in just the last couple of months of line drying.

**I have been able to put up to 4 large loads on the clothes line.  Just make sure that you take off the clothes that are dry and check the rest of them.  Sometimes, the middle clothes are not able to dry with all of the lines full of clothes.**
