Removing Super Glue

Ok, since I just did the post about Super Glue, I thought I should go into a little bit more detail about Super Glue...  For instance the bottle to my left is my FAVORITE for of Super Glue.  Why?!  You ask, because, it LASTS FOREVER!  And, it has a trigger on the side of it.  On each side is the blue grated sides, those are the triggers.  So, you don't have to squeeze a tube and have it go all over the place.  I do want to tell you a couple of things about the Super Glue before you use it...

DVD Cord...

At the beginning of the year we bought a new DVD/Blu-Ray player and every once in a while it decides not to play...  So, it's a little annoying and discouraging since we bought it only 8 months ago.  And, of course it decides to go nutty well after we purchased it so there is no taking it back.

Deer in Your Garden

I know that I have heard through the years that deer do not like it when certain things are sprayed on the plants that they like to eat.  Well, I have 2 apple trees, 6 blueberry bushes and 15 strawberry plants.  I have yet to get chicken wire to put around all of them.  In fact they are out in the open for anything and everything to eat them.  My apple trees look pitiful and I am pretty sure that the strawberry plants will not make it.  Let's just face it Krystal YOU DO NOT HAVE A GREEN THUMB.  However, that does not stop me AT ALL.  With a little food coloring and maybe a few green markers IT WILL BE GREEN!

Quit Smoking! I DID!

NicoDerm CQ Stop Smoking Aid
Well, I hate to admit it.  However, I used to smoke!  In fact I smoked for 12 years.  It's not something I am proud of or happy I wasted all that money and all that time slowly killing myself.  Thankfully, it has been a year and half since I quit smoking, and I am so proud of myself.

A couple of tips for you smokers out there read this before you try to quit:

Save Money When Shopping...

I have my bachelors' degree in accounting, so numbers, are my friend!  And, I do say this WITHOUT sarcasm.  I HEART numbers!  One of my favorite things that I do to save money is to make out a weekly menu and put the shopping list right underneath the menu.  I admit it is not the prettiest thing I have.  However, there are weeks that we spend $50 on groceries.  I check the cupboards first to see if we have the ingredients for the menus, and a lot of the time we have all of the ingredients and do not need to buy anything.

My 'Handy Dandy' Shop Vac

Vacmaster 2.5 Gallon Wet/Dry Vac
Lightweight, powerful and portable
My daughter 'E' lost her first tooth about 2-years-ago.  She was so excited that it was loose.  It was definitely one of those memorable moments...
The tooth had been loose for months.  I personally, cannot look at someone that has a loose tooth, it reminds me of nails on a chalk board. YUCK!

Fluorescent Light Bulbs

At the beginning of this year we decided that we were going to go 'GREEN' as much as possible.  Now, the first choice we made for 2012 was to change all of the light bulbs in the house to fluorescent light bulbs.  Now, I didn't know that there are different types of fluorescent light bulbs for different rooms of the house.  I am sure that there are a lot of you that already know this.  So, just incase I am not the only one out there that did not know this I am posting it.

Bacon (The Cheap Way)

I love Bacon, and so does my family.  It tastes amazing, especially, in a BLT (Bacon, Lettuce & Tomato sandwich).  One of the issues I have with bacon is that the texture is a little rough and the kids have a hard time chewing it.  The kids especially, have a hard time when the bacon is in a sandwich form like the BLT.

Now, this is organic bacon that we buy from a specialty shop in town.  And, let me tell you it's even better the fresher it is.  That is definitely not a lie!

Change Your Furnace Filters

Now, something that needs to be done on a regular basis is changing your furnace filters.  The Air Conditioning air and the Furnace Air gets ran through this filter.  If the filter is full it will take more energy and your Furnace and A/C will have to work harder to reach the set temperature of the thermostat.  If your Furnace and A/C have to work harder than actually needed they will end up needing to be replaced sooner rather than later.

Hanging Clothes

Outdoor Umbrella Dryer.
About a year ago when we bought our own home, we became friends with some pretty frugal people (we will call them friend 'S').  'S' had a clothes line that is like an umbrella.  You push a button and it opens, or push the button and it closes.  'S' also cemented in a PVC pipe to put the clothes line in.  The clothesline comes with a plastic container to hold the clothesline in place in the ground.  However, we did what 'S' did and used the PVC pipe.  It's worked GREAT so far!

Water Pipe Insulators

The black tube is the insulator.
My uncle we will call him 'K', came to stay with me a few months ago,  When he took a shower, it took FOREVER for the hot water to reach my shower. Now, I personally do not take showers (I know, I know some people think it's gross).  However, I need to sit in the water to get warm.  If I take a shower it doesn't matter how hot I make the water I am still cold, leading to a lot of water and electricity waste.  Anyway, our basement is not finished yet leaving the entire area open to the cold dampness of down under.  Uncle 'K' suggested that I put Styrofoam covers on the pipes.
