Deer in Your Garden

I know that I have heard through the years that deer do not like it when certain things are sprayed on the plants that they like to eat.  Well, I have 2 apple trees, 6 blueberry bushes and 15 strawberry plants.  I have yet to get chicken wire to put around all of them.  In fact they are out in the open for anything and everything to eat them.  My apple trees look pitiful and I am pretty sure that the strawberry plants will not make it.  Let's just face it Krystal YOU DO NOT HAVE A GREEN THUMB.  However, that does not stop me AT ALL.  With a little food coloring and maybe a few green markers IT WILL BE GREEN!

We may live in the city however, we have deer like you would not believe.  They were eating my apple trees and I decided that it was time to use one of the old wives-tales that I have heard about through the years.  All it is Tabasco sauce in a spray bottle with water.  I thought this is absolutely crazy!  There is no way it will work at all.  And, my apple trees have been fine for a while.  However, I was not convinced until I saw it for myself.  It just so happened that the deer were out by my trees and plants tonight.  Nate caught them and took off for the door and scared them away.  I grabbed the spray bottle of Tabasco sauce and water and went out as fast as I could go and sprayed everything down.  Now, we caught the deer as they were going up to the plants, and I have been keeping up on the spraying every few days or so.  I do want to add that I keep the spray bottle in the fridge when I am not using it.

As I was outside I could see the deer out of the corner of my eye.  These guys are not scared at all, they were only 30 feet away from me.  This time there were 3, two babies and a mommy.  After I sprayed all of the greenery I went in the house and watched out my front door.  It took about 3 minutes for the deer to come walking back up to the plants and sniffed them, took a little lick and went onto the next plant!  The Tabasco sauce and water works GREAT!!!
