After throwing away my millionth liquid laundry soap container I decided there has to be a better way, AND THERE IS!!! Honestly, before talking to my friends I did not know that it was possible to make your own laundry detergent. Never, in a million years did I ever think I would do something like that. And, it has saved us so much waste and money. At $2 for 10 gallons of laundry soap you can't beat that!
I heard that Michelle Duggar had a homemade liquid laundry soap recipe. I was able to find the Fels-Naptha bar soap in the laundry aisle at Meijer, along with the Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda and the Borax. Here is the link to her Homemade Liquid Laundry Soap. It does not suds up like regular laundry soap, and I recently read that it has to do with extra ingredients added to the store bought laundry soap.
For a quick tip when you are making the 'Homemade Laundry Soap' do not add the Borax and the Washing Soda into the pan when you are trying to melt the Fels-Naptha, I did that, it turned out but you are not supposed to do it that way. Also, I have decided that the next load I do will have slightly less water. The next batch I make I am going to do 8 gallons instead of 10 gallons to make it a little thicker and make it smell a little more.
On a side note, I love Michelle Duggar. I have only watched a few of her shows, however, I have read both of her books which are AMAZING! She is my role model, I think everyone needs a role model, and she is MINE!
