So, I was cleaning off the 'glue' on the side of the fabric softener container, when all of a sudden it hit me like a brick wall. 'Krystal, do you think it's possible to make 'Goo Gone'?' Well, I thought for a minute and as I am using 'Goo Gone' I started using my senses. This stuff smells 'lemony' and is pretty greasy stuff..............................
I got in my fridge and pulled out the trusty bottle of lemon juice I keep in there for most of my cleaning projects. And, I got in the cupboard and pulled out my giant container of canola oil. My first thought was I bet the lemon juice is what gets the sticky stuff off. So, I used more lemon juice than I did the canola oil at first.
This was definitely a bust because I had it backwards. It ends up that you need more canola oil than the lemon juice (if you look at the picture up and to the left you can see where the lemon juice settled to the bottom of the bottle). Now, the only difference between this mixture and the 'Goo Gone' is you may need to use just a little more of the homemade stuff.
It involves just a little extra elbow grease and make sure that you shake the container in the middle of using it. The mixture does separate. However, for the price and in a pinch I will definitely be using this from now on. I also, love that the products I used are not chemicals. But no joke, it really works!
**I do want you to know that I had an old bottle that had a label on it, and I used this 'Goo to the Gone' and it did not work. However, I even used the real Goo Gone and it still did not work. And, some advice, this recipe needs to be made new each time.**
