Building Self Esteem and Emotional Intelligence

I love my kids and one thing that I want them to grow up with is self esteem and emotional intelligence.  Now it has taken me a while to think of something that would be fun.  The other day I was playing with my awesome laminator.  And, it hit me, I tried to find as many 'emotional' and complimenting words that I could possibly find.  I wanted enough to fill at least an entire page to make it worth it.  While I am making this my daughter 'E' was asking me the whole time.  It was fun when I was all done and used 'ticky tac' to stick the papers to the wall in my kitchen.

So, I decided the easiest way to do this was to make little arrows with our names on them.  I colored the arrows so they would be easy to identify against the white paper.  And, when we wake up the first thing we do is look to see what mood we are in.  It is actually a lot of fun especially, with the word find.  We try to figure out the other persons feeling and sometimes picking silly ones for a different person.

Now, I also did this with the complimenting words.  We do pick a complimenting word for a person every morning and put their name by it.  However, we call them several complimenting words while placing our names on the 'emotion' chart and the 'complimenting' chart.  I was hoping this would be interesting and it is a lot more fun than I thought it would be.

The arrows have our names on both sides.  This way if more than one person is an emotion or a complimenting word, we can flip one of the names around and we are able to 'attack' the word at different angles.
