Ok, so the school year is about to start up again and I am kind of on a 'Self Esteem', life changing mission for my daughter 'E'. We were sitting on the couch talking about God and what type of person we should be for God. And, then I realized that 'E' does not really 'know' the qualities that she should have or qualities that her friends should have. So, I got out my trusty laminator, this is something that I do quite often actually. Now our first list was the qualities that we should have and it explains the words that we do not know as well. And, the second list is the qualities that our friends should have. I wish I was able to home school, but that is not the case right now at least. So, we have to accept that there are going to be outside influences on our daughter, however, we want her to have a guideline or and outline for her to see. This is something that she will be able to read everyday. I did explain to her that even if she comes across someone that does not have these qualities we are still nice to them and pray for them. However, we want to be influenced by people that are genuinely good and do genuinely good things. Unfortunately, at a public school there are all kinds of families and all kinds of kids. And, that means that there are going to be all kinds of things that 'E' is going to be exposed to. My goal for my daughter is to help her have a foundation of values and principles to carry her through the school day. If you use this idea I hope it helps your children too!!!
